Critiques
Black and White was a great choice for this shot. The world exists in color, but B&W can bring to an image qualities that can be lost in a color composition. I think you used it to good effect here.
The old barn lends itself well to B&W, it helps bring out the antique quality the building has. B&W and old things were made for each other. Also it helps bring out the detials of the weathering in the building a lot, and in the plant life and shrubbery in the landscape.
It's the fact that B&W relies on tone and shade differences to produce the image that helps bring out this detail. But further, in this shot, the combination of the extisting lighting and whatever magic you did in editing, really puts this barn at center stage. There seems to be a subtle vignetting that gives this an aura or halo of soft light. Really cool effect. This has also carried over into the clouds and sky too.
The overall impression of this shot is one that has been photographed in infra-red, at night. Really tickles the eye to view this one. Great job.
